A Dalecarlian horse in a box, literally. With an obvious combination of two of our most famous Swedish symbols, a Morakniv knife, and a Dalecarlian horse, you can create your own designs and new traditions.
The carving kit includes pine Dalecarlian horse woodcarving blank and the characteristic Morakniv Woodcarving Knife 120 (C), which with its barrel-shaped oiled handle of Scandinavian FSC® certified birch wood and a short, tapered blade of carbon steel makes the carving experience delightful and lots of fun. The carving kit is our best piece of advice when you need a perfect Christmas gift, a gift for the person who already has everything, or for someone who wants to learn to carve. The characteristic woodcarving knives are highly regarded around the world and are well known for their excellent sharpness and high quality, not least because they are used by skilled craftsmen in Nusnäs, where one of Sweden’s most famous national symbols, the Dala horse, is produced.
(NOTE: Carbon steel rusts, wipe and oil the blade after use.)
The narrow and pointed classic no. 120 knife blade is made of laminated steel, which gives it superior toughness and edge resiliency. The spindle-shaped handle is made of oiled birch wood and creates a good, natural feeling when working.

(NOTE: We recommend that you soak the Dala horse before you start carving. By placing the wood in water it becomes softer and easier to carve in.)
